Check out these RV resorts for a fall foliage camping experience

We do not deny that camping was a popular summer activity in the U.S., but we believe that going to RV resorts for fall camping is even better. It’s not that most the people have gone home, it’s also the cool mornings and colorful leaves. Even though summer is the most popular season, autumn offers just as much outdoor adventure without the heat and humidity.

These campgrounds are great for autumn foliage, whether you’re looking for changing leaves, mild climates, or a socially distant escape. Some sites are good to visit throughout the year.

However, you will find shorter travel times at higher elevation campgrounds such as Stanley RV + Camp, Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains, and Calhoun Campground, Beaverton, Michigan. Winter is showing its ugly face by mid-to-late October. We won’t be either.

Pack your warmest sweater, and get on the road to one of these cool-weather campgrounds between California and New York. Even if you don’t want to spend the night in a tent, fall foliage is worth a look. You can ride four-wheelers to our favorite fall foliage spots or bike along the best trails for autumn.
